Chat Room Information

The Chat Room has been active since 2000.  The rooms are monitored closely by trained facilitators.  Facilitators are not licensed counselors, but have personal experiences with midlife crisis and their spouses.  They have become a “2nd family” and take new guests under their wings.  Visit often and you’ll feel this is a family you can rely on for advice and encouragement. Many people have found support and direction needed to help them get through their spouse's midlife crisis.  We have an annual retreat for training sessions with Jim Conway and to visit with each other.

CHAT ROOM ACRONYMS & TIPS

  • Your Chat Name should be your User Name if you've registered for access to our entire MLD Website.  Do not use real names. Choose a name that you would give a pet, car, or doll, keep it simple for everyone to address you by chat name.
  • NOTE: CHAT ROOM Registration is separate from WEBSITE Registration, but can be the same information.
  • Use the “scroll lock” button to move the conversation along at your own pace.
  • View edited chats posted in the "archives" section of the Chat Room anytime you log-in.
  • Guests use acronyms as they have a limited number of characters they can type before having to post.

If you’re ever unsure or confused by acronyms, just ask what they mean and most everyone will respond with the answer for you. Often, by reading the context of the chat, you’ll figure out what the acronym is on your own.  Before you know it – you’ll be typing away and making use of these acronyms as well.  They’re not mandatory, you can type everything in full of course.

Read before you register a Chat Name or Site User Name.

CHAT NAME is used to enter the chat room.

USER NAME is used to enter the website extra access.

Website Registered Users have access to extra pages; ie: Chat Room Archives & Facilitator's Bios.
Separate Registration required to enter Chat Room.  Do NOT use real names. Make note of User Name, Chat Name, and Passwords.

Most common mistake made when choosing a chat name is that a person will pick a nickname that their circle of friends/family know them by.  They figure that no one in the Chat Room knows them by that name, so it's safe.  But it's not the people in the chat room that need be feared.  It's your own circle that could be nosy - find you in the rooms, and use it against you.

This is not to scare you, but to protect your identity.

Choose a name that you'd give a new pet, a car, or a Barbie doll, your favorite candy bar, or maybe thwoman hide facee first name of your favorite cartoon character or movie star. Examples:  "Dusty" - "Oreo" - "Abigail" - "Wilma"- "Bandana" - "PeeWee" - "Elvira" - "Hershey"

One more hint, short and sweet is good, because when people choose long chat names, other guests will shorten your name like this:

SugarGirlAnnie is always called SGA, Annie, or Sugar.

SomeDayMyPrinceWillCome gets called Someday, SDMPWC,  etc.

Our Chat Rooms are extremely safe to share, encourage, and ask questions.
